The Syracuse Mets fell to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, 10–7. Michael Conforto began his rehab stint with Syracuse, recording a hit and run scored. Jeff McNeil and Albert Almora Jr. continued their rehab assignments, each tallying a double and run scored. Travis Blankenhorn homered for the second straight day, a two-run shot in the 5th inning. Orlando Calixte would add a 5th inning home run as well.

Travis Blankenhorn launched a three-run homer in the first inning and drove in four on the night. Jeff McNeil continues his rehab assignment as he recorded a hit and run scored for Syracuse. Patrick Mazeika went 3-for-5 with a three-run homer in the 5th inning. Orlando Calixte and David Rodríguez would add solo homers of their own. Bradley Roney tossed three scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and striking out three.

Nobody could motivate like Bobby Valentine.

To fire up the clubhouse, he would sometimes tell a joke, raise his voice five octaves or even hold impromptu player meetings in the outfield. But Bobby reached way down into his bag of tricks 22 years ago today at Shea Stadium when after being thrown out of the 12th inning in a game against Toronto, he returned to the dugout in full disguise with a mustache, glasses and hat.

Bobby didn’t fool the umpires and was tossed again. He would later get fined and suspended but the ploy worked…
