Ed Kranepool Celebrates 59 Years as a Met

For me Ed Kranepool is the real Mr. Met.
He was there 59 years ago today for the first game in the Polo Grounds. He was there on April 17, 1964 when Shea Stadium opened and he was there in 2009 for the first contest at Citi Field.
Ed played his entire 18-year career with one team, which today is almost unheard of.
Since his kidney transplant two years ago, Ed has been in the forefront of advocating the need for transplant surgery, even in the midst of a pandemic.
For the part of seven decades, on the field and in the community, no one has represented the Mets better than Ed Kranepool.
