Farm Report Recap: 5/29
SYRACUSE METS
Syracuse swept a doubleheader over Rochester yesterday, winning game one 10–1 and game two by a score of 2–0.
In game one, Mason Williams had a huge night, raising his season average to .383. He recorded a grand-slam in the third inning and finished the game with three hits, four RBI and two runs scored. Sebastian Elizalde and David Thompson also homered in the win. Drew Ferguson and Cody Bohanek would each tally a multi-hit game.
The Mets #10 ranked prospect Thomas Szapucki (MLB Pipeline) made the game one start, tossing four innings without allowing an earned run. His season ERA is down to 2.12. Seth Lugo continued his rehab assignment in Syracuse, tossing one inning and fanning two.
In Syracuse’s 2–0 game two win, Drew Jackson collected three hits including two doubles. He also drove in a run and scored twice. David Thompson had a multi-hit game including an RBI.
Franklyn Kilomé looked good in the game two start for Syracuse, going the distance by throwing seven shutout frames. He only allowed one hit while punching out seven.
The Syracuse Mets finish up their series with Rochester today. First pitch is set for 1:05 p.m.
BINGHAMTON RUMBLEPONIES
Binghamton played Akron last night, dropping both games of the doubleheader.
In the game one 7–1 loss, Jake Mangum recorded a three-hit game while Mets #8 ranked prospect Mark Vientos (MLB Pipeline) doubled.
Binghamton was defeated in game two, 7–6.
Mets #19 ranked prospect Carlos Cortes (MLB Pipeline) belted his third homer on the season as part of his two-hit, two RBI night. Catcher Hayden Senger also recorded multiple hits, including a triple and RBI. Jeremy Vasquez and Manny Rodriguez each reached base three times for Binghamton.
Jared Robinson, Joe Shaw and Juan Loyo combined for 5.2 innings out of the pen without allowing an earned run.
Binghamton will send right-hander Tony Dibrell to the mound as they wrap up the series with Akron. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
BROOKLYN CYCLONES
The Brooklyn Cyclones fell to Aberdeen last night, 4–1.
Luke Ritter hit his fourth homer on the season — a solo shot in the fourth inning. He also recorded a single. Mets #1 ranked prospect Francsico Álvarez (MLB Pipeline) also recorded a hit in the matchup.
Hunter Parsons worked 2.2 scoreless frames in relief for Brooklyn, not allowing a run. He has yet to allow an earned run in five innings pitched since joining the Cyclones. Bryce Montes de Oca lowered his ERA to 1.86 with a scoreless inning out of the bullpen.
Brooklyn will take on Aberdeen again today at 1:00 p.m.
ST. LUCIE METS
St. Lucie split a doubleheader with Daytona, losing game one 5–3 and winning game two 9–3.
Despite losing game one, the St. Lucie Mets hit three home runs — all solo shots by Jose Peroza, Shervyen Newton (Mets #15 ranked prospect — MLB Pipeline) and Cole Kleszcz.
In the 9–3 game two win, Peroza would add another home run, this time a three-run shot in the third inning. He also had five RBI and two runs scored. Mets #12 ranked prospect Jaylen Palmer (MLB Pipeline) recorded two hits, an RBI and run scored. Shortstop Jimmy Titus would add a three-hit game of his own, scoring one and driving one in. Outfielder Cole Kleszcz reached base safely three times.
Austin Faith made the game two start for St. Lucie, allowing two earned runs over four innings of work. Drake Nightengale and Willy Taveras combined for three shutout frames in relief to secure the win for St. Lucie.
St. Lucie will hand the ball to #11 ranked prospect, Junior Santos (MLB Pipeline). First pitch is scheduled for 12:10 p.m.
