Matlack Gets His Due

Jon Matlack’s road to the Mets Hall of Fame induction on Saturday certainly wasn’t an easy path.
He had to prove his worth on a staff that already included future Hall of Famer Tom Seaver and Jerry Koosman. His determination to succeed was in full view on a night in May of 1973 when he suffered a fractured skull on a ball hit back to the mound and only missed one start.
He became a Rookie of The Year. Co All-Star Game MVP and went onto a fashion a career 3.03 ERA for the Mets. Her certainly deserves his time in the Hall of Fame spotlight.
