Mike Tyson loved the way the 1986 Mets swung their bats and their fists.

During a visit to Shea Stadium one summer, the soon-to-be heavyweight champ told me, “I try not to miss any of your games on TV, because you never can tell when I might see a fight break out.”

A fight broke out 35 years today in Cincinnati that I am sure Mike enjoyed.

Ray Knight knocked down Eric Davis with a hard right hand when Ray objected to Davis’ hard slid slide at third base. Ray was ejected as was Kevin Mitchell. The battle energized the Mets to their 6–3, 13 inning win that made Iron Mike smile.
